Innovation means saying no

Be proud of the things you haven’t done

It is hot here in Arizona, so it is no surprise that many people’s summer priority is getting out of the heat. Unfortunately, not all decisions are so straightforward. The challenge for many business leaders is not that they say yes to too many things, it is that they do not say NO. Nobody knew the power of saying no better than Steve Jobs:

People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying ‘no’ to 1,000 things.

The talented Hannah Wilson from Quoted Visually sums it up perfectly.
